Experience

My very first “official” job was as a dishwasher at “Cavanagh’s Fish & Chips” in Grade 9. Throughout high school, I was:

  • On the rowing team, rugby team, briefly the lacrosse team

  • Elected as “Senior Rep” on student council

  • Managed 1-3 part time jobs at restaurants and retail stores

All while maintaining my grades.

In University, I worked nearly full time hours during my full time school semester and typically 75 hours per week in the summer, always grateful for the income:

  • 55 hours per week as a Customer Service Rep (Teller) at a bank

  • 20 hours per week as a bartender at a local bar

When I graduated University, I shifted to permanent full time at the bank (as a teller). Right away, I started studying for my investment accreditation needed to advance my career.

Upon completion of my Investment Funds in Canada course (what you needed to be able to sell mutual funds), I was “poached” by another bank and promoted to an account manager role. As an account manager, I was responsible for providing advice and counsel on everyday banking, investments, etc., as well as completing the approval of loans, credit cards and mortgages. My favourite part of this job was helping people. If I could help them save money on interest expense, help ease their cash flow, or help set them up with a solid plan for retirement, it always made my day.

In 2012, I accomplished my next goal, with a promotion and move to a career in corporate head office downtown Toronto. I worked in progressively senior roles that strengthened many of the skills and abilities that I believe will come in handy as your City Councillor. I have included my LinkedIn account for your reference.

To give you a sense of my character, I have included a letter of reference one of my high school coaches wrote for me back when I was applying for University scholarships. See below.
